Cops build daycare center for pre-school in Davao City remote barangay
“If we want to reach real peace in this world, we should start educating children.”
Davao City policemen took this words of wisdom from Mahatma Gandhi seriously as they pushed for the construction of a daycare center in one of the remote areas of the City in order to enable children to have access to education.
The construction was initiated by the Revitalized Pulis sa Barangay Cluster 5 after learning of the need of the children to have a decent classroom.
After several days of hard work, the local police turned over the daycare center to officials of the Barangay Sirib.
The turnover of the daycare center came with various learning materials for pre-school.
Gen. Guillermo Lorenzo Eleazar, chief of the Philippine National Police (PNP), lauded the Davao City police for the initiative.
“The project manifests every policeman’s readiness to extend assistance to our countrymen living in remote areas, especially if it involves giving the young residents access to education,” said Eleazar.
The elated parents and teachers expressed gratitude to the police officers who, with the help of barangay officials, the city’s engineer office and other stakeholders, built the day care center which is very-much needed in a far-flung area such as their barangay.
