PVL: Perlas Spikers make pro debut vs Choco Mucho; Creamline eyes fourth win

Perlas Spikers make their professional debut in the Premier Volleyball League Open Conference when they clash with the Choco Mucho Flying Titans on Sunday, July 25 at the PVC Socio-Civic & Cultural Center in Bacarra, Ilocos Norte.

Match is at 4 p.m. with the Perlas Spikers eager to get down to work after being isolated for a week due to COVID-19 scare.

None from the players and coaching staff tested positive for the virus, but organizers deemed it imperative to delay their matches as a precaution after a team delegate yielded a positive result.

The team will parade a strong cast led by Sue Roces and Nicole Tiamzon, along with Jem Ferrer, Jho Maraguinot, Michelle Morente, Cherry Nunag and Heather Guino-o.

While Perlas has a lot of catching up to do, Choco Mucho eyes to improve its 2-0 mark at solo second.

The Flying Titans are fresh from a 25-17, 25-22, 25-20 triumph over the Sta Lucia Lady Realtors also last Friday with Kat Tolentino spearheading with 18 points.

Joining Tolentino at the forefront of Choco Mucho’s attack are Bea De Leon and Maddie Madayag, with setter Deanna Wong and Denden Revilla also out to provide reinforcements.

Meanwhile, Creamline tries to keep its record unscathed when it faces struggling PLDT Home Fibr in the 1 p.m. curtain raiser.

The Cool Smashers tote a 3-0 mark with their recent victory coming from the Black Mamba Army Lady Troopers, 20-25, 25-15, 25-27, 25-19, 15-13, last Thursday.

Tots Carlos and Alyssa Valdez will carry Creamline’s offensive spark after unloading a combined 46 points against Army along with versatile setter Jia Morado.

PLDT, for its part, tries to crawl out of a 0-3 hole with defeats against Chery Tiggo, Sta Lucia and Choco Mucho.

BaliPure, meanwhile, aims to follow up a morale-boosting five-set victory over fancied Chery Tiggo when it squares off with Cignal HD (1-2) at 7 p.m.
