DSWD, LGUs extend more than P3.87-M worth of relief aid to monsoon-affected families

The Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) and the local government units (LGus) have so far provided more than P3.87-million worth of relief assistance to the families affected by flooding caused by monsoon rains and enhanced by typhoon “Fabian”.

The DSWD’s Disaster Response Operations Monitoring and Information Center (DROMIC) reported that as of 6 p.m., July 25, the aid extended to six most affected regions totals P3,870,596.50.

The affected regions are Cordillera Administrative Region (CAR), National Capital Region (NCR), Ilocos, Central Luzon, Calabarzon (Cavite, Laguna, Batangas, Rizal, Quezon), and Mimaropa (Mindoro, Marinduque, Romblon, Palawan).

The DROMIC said the monsoon rains had affected 51,680 families or 211,458 individuals from 415 barangays.

The report showed that a total of 7,585 families or 30,612 individuals are currently staying in 291 evacuation centers.

A total of 11,007 families or 49,511 individuals have opted to stay with their relatives and/or friends.

The DROMIC reported that 41 houses were damaged, 30 of which were totally damaged and 11 were partially damaged.
