DSWD: 4,894 families in Metro Manila affected by monsoon rains

The Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD)-National Capital Region (NCR) reported Sunday, July 25, that more than 4,894 families or more than 20,000 individuals have been affected by monsoon rains that caused flooding in many areas in Metro Manila.

In a Facebook post on Sunday, the DSWD-NCR said as of July 25, 12 a.m., it has so far recorded a total of 4,894 family-evacuees or 20,041 individuals from 61 barangays in Metro Manila.

It said the evacuees are currently taking temporary shelter in 95 evacuation centers in cities of Quezon, Caloocan, Las Piñas, Pasay, Marikina, Muntinlupa, Malabon, Manila, Parañaque, San Juan, Taguig, and Pasig.

The DSWD-NCR also assured the public that it has enough resources to provide assistance to the local government units (LGUs) affected by flooding caused by monsoon rains and enhanced by typhoon “Fabian”.

It said food and non-food items have been readied for distribution.

These include 3,600 family food packs (FFPs); 7,840 sanitary kits; 3,381 plastic mats; 519 blankets; 8,908 mosquito nets; 5,437 sleeping kits; 1,622 hygiene kits; 55 family kits; 345 malong; 86 dignity kits; and two family tents.
