DOH confirms 5,479 more COVID-19 cases

The Department of Health (DOH) said 5,479 more people were found positive with the coronavirus disease (COVID-19) on Sunday, July 25.

Active cases nationwide stood at 54,262, representing 3.5 percent of the country's running tally of 1,548,755, the DOH said in its latest case bulletin.

Ninety-three percent of the active cases have mild symptoms, 1.2 percent were asymptomatic, 1.4 percent were in critical condition, 2.3 percent were severe, while 1.63 percent were moderate cases.

There were 5,573 more people who survived the viral illness. This pushed the recovery tally to increase to 1,467,269, which is equivalent to 94.7 percent of the country's caseload.

Meanwhile, the death count jumped to 27,224 after 93 new fatalities were confirmed. The Philippines' case fatality rate is at 1.76 percent, the DOH said.

Currently, 57 percent of the country's intensive care unit beds, 47 percent of isolation beds, and 44 percent of ward beds---which are dedicated for COVID-19 patients, are being utilized.
