Cops help old vendor with poor eyesight sell ice drops in Samar

Policemen assigned in Oras town of Samar added a twist in the conduct of their regular patrol after they decided to help a senior citizen sell ice drops.

PNP chief Gen. Guillermo Lorenzo Eleazar said he learned of the good deed of the local policemen in a Facebook post of personnel from the 1st Eastern Samar Provincial Mobile Force.

Quoting the Facebook post, Eleazar said compassion immediately sank in to the hearts of the local cops after they learned that the senior citizen selling ice drops has poor eyesight.

"They approached the elderly vendor and asked if they could give him a ride to the town proper where there were more customers for his ice drops," said Eleazar.

The grateful senior citizen agreed and went with the police officers to the town proper where he was able to sell more ice drops.

Eleazar lauded the policemen for what he described as a the true meaning of police service.

"I really appreciate what they did. By helping the senior citizen sell ice drops, he earned more money for his family," said Eleazar.

"This could just be a small good deed by our policemen but this is something that every policeman should do in the name of public service, of police service," he added.
