BaliPure leaned on its hard-hitting serves in besting Cignal HD, 21-25, 25-20, 25-22, 25-22, Sunday night in the Premier Volleyball League Open Conference at the PVC Socio-Civic & Cultural Center in Bacarra, Ilocos Norte.
The Water Defenders unloaded 12 aces – five coming from Ezra Barroga to post their second straight victory in three outings.
It somehow made up for their 31 unforced errors while dealing the HD Spikers their third loss in four matches.
Grazielle Bombita continued to unleash bombs at the attack line for BaliPure with 17 kills to finish with 19 points, while Bernadette Flora pumped in 10 hits and four aces for 14 points.
Barroga finished with 12 points along with Genevieve Casugod, who led the Water Defenders’ stifling defense by posting five blocks.
BaliPure’s triumph overshadowed the efforts of Janine Marciano for Cignal, who had 15 kills for 19 points.
Roselyn Doria scored nine points while Ayel Estranero came up with 26 excellent sets, but they were not enough to lift the HD Spikers to the winning column.
Despite the win, BaliPure coach Rommel Abella admitted he wasn’t satisfied with their performance.
“Ang baba nung intensity nung start ng laro namin. Pero good thing naka-recover and syempre in a way, happy pa rin kasi yun nga, two game winning streak kami,” he said.
