Spongecola to headline first-ever 'TikTok By Request'

Concerts, live sessions, and music festivals—these are some of the things the pandemic has taken away from many music fans. Although music can still be felt privately through our devices, nothing beats the experience of seeing it performed live. That moment when you breathe in the same air, connect with your idols and with your fellow fans swaying to the same beat, moments like these are able to turn strangers into a community bound by their shared love for music.

While we can't do live events now, it doesn't mean that the connecting power of live music can't be felt apart. Giving you just that is social media platform TikTok as it puts a spin on your solo bedroom party with its latest offering "TikTok By Request."

A new series of digital live events, "TikTok By Request" is the first-ever fan-powered online show in the Philippines that will give fans the chance to call the shots, and create a musical show that they want to see, putting a personal touch to a regular livestream.

Spongecola

For its first episode, the virtual music session will feature Filipino rock band Spongecola. And opening their show will be the up-and-coming singer-songwriter Raven. Their special online concert will stream on July 31, 2021, Saturday, 8 p.m. through TikTok Philippines, as well as on Spongecola and Raven's TikTok accounts.

In the series, fans will have the rare chance to participate in building the band's set list for the show as they vote for the songs that they want to hear. Yes, no more listing your request on pieces of paper. To vote, users may type Spongecola on the TikTok search bar or click on the Spongecola banner found on the TikTok Discover page, from July 23 to 25, 2021. As an added treat, the band will release a special surprise if fans work together to hit the target coins quota during the online concert. Top gifters during the stream will also receive a gift from the band.
