ATEEZ member recovers from COVID-19; group resumes schedule

A member of K-pop boy band ATEEZ has recovered from coronavirus disease (COVID-19) in 11 days after his diagnosis.

In a statement released on July 23, KQ Entertainment said member San, 22, is now “completely cured” of the disease on July 19.

“We would like to inform you about ATEEZ members' resumption of schedules. As member San was diagnosed as asymptomatic COVID-19 case in a preemptively taken test on the 9th , he has stopped all schedules and entered the treatment center, and after being confirmed to be completely cured on the 19th, he has been released from quarantine and leaved the treatment center,” according to the agency.

San was an asymptomatic case who tested positive for the virus a day before his 22nd birthday on July 10.

KQ Entertainment said in addition, members who underwent self-quarantine after being classified as close contacts were released after testing negative.

“In addition. ATEEZ members Hong Joong, Seong Hwa, Yun Ho, Yeo Sang, Woo Young and Jong Ho. who were classified as close contacts, were self-isolated until noon today following the disease control authorities' instructions, and they were all tested negative at the PCR (Genetic Amplification) test that they took before being released from self-isolation,” said the agency.

With San’s recovery and other members completing their self-quarantine, “ATEEZ will resume their schedule starting from tomorrow and all members are in good health conditions,” KQ added.

“We apologize yet again for causing concern, and we will put every effort into ensuring maximum safety in proceeding with every schedule of the artists,” it said.

South Korea is grappling with the increase in the number of daily confirmed COVID-19 cases. On July 24, 1,573 new COVID-19 cases were added to bring the total confirmed cases to 187,362.
