After 'Ashin of the North', Netflix plans new side sequel 'Kingdom: Crown Prince'

Ju Ji Hoon is expected to reprise his role as Prince Lee Chang in the upcoming “Kingdom” side story “Kingdom: Crown Prince”.

The news came at the heels of the ‘Ashin of the North’ premiere on Netflix. ‘Ashin’ was a 90-minute special episode focused on the mysterious character played by Jun Ji Hyun during the final episode of “Kingdom” Season 2.

While the third season of hit Joseon zombie thriller “Kingdom” is yet to be determined, Korean media outlets have cited “The Outlaws” director Kang Yoon Sung in the confirmation of a new side sequel which will begin filming on the second half of the year.

The plot points and other details of “Kingdom: Crown Prince” is yet to be announced but it is expected to center around the series’ central character Lee Chang, a prince born from the union of the King and a concubine. It is unsure if the special episode will focus on the Crown Prince’s origins or if it will be set in the aftermath of the second season.
