San Juan City marks National Disability Prevention and Rehabilitation Week

The San Juan City local government marked the 43rd National Disability Prevention and Rehabilitation Week by giving due recognition to persons with disabilities (PWD) in the city.

San Juan City Mayor Francis Zamora, together with city government officials and staff, distributed food packs and hygiene kits to the city's PWDs. The LGU also dedicated the day for the vaccination of PWDs at the city's primary vaccination hub -- FilOil Flying V Center.

During the event, Zamora assured the city's PWDs that the local government will continue to boost its healthcare system to further assist them in their medications and treatments. He added that the city government is also planning to create various programs dedicated to PWDs in the city.

"Ito po ang commitment ko sa inyo, anumang kailangan ng inyong mga pamilya o inyong mga anak na PWD members, lapitan niyo lang po ako, tutugunan natin. Any medical procedure, medication, therapy, kahit ano pong kailangang gawin, ako po ang bahala sa kanila. Bahagi yan ng ating programa sa Makabagong San Juan (This is my commitment to you. Whatever your PWD relatives need, you can always approach me and I will do everything to help you. Any medical procedure, medication, therapy, I will help you. This is part of our program for a newer San Juan),” Zamora said.

With the theme, "Kalusugan at Kaunlaran ng Pilipinong may Kapansanan, Isulong sa Gitna ng Pandemya," the National Disability Prevention and Rehabilitation Week was observed from July 17 to July 23.

Zamora said that as of July 21, 109,066 residents already received their first COVID-19 vaccine jab, while 43,703 are already fully vaccinated, which is 47 percent of the target to reach herd immunity in the city.
