PH administers over 472K COVID-19 vaccines in 1 day -- DOH

The Philippines recorded its highest daily vaccination rate last Thursday, July 22, four months since the coronavirus disease (COVID-19) vaccination program started, the Department of Health (DOH) said.

DOH Undersecretary Maria Rosario Vergeire said that 472,356 vaccine doses were administered last Thursday.

"We just want to share that we have administered the highest daily jabs last July 22. We administered 472,356 doses of the COVID-19 vaccine," said Vergeire during an online forum on Friday, July 23.

The country has administered more than 16 million doses of COVID-19 vaccines, of which, five million were already fully vaccinated, said National Task Force Deputy Chief Implementer Vince Dizon.

“And with the threat of the Delta variant, we have to increase our vaccination rate, especially among our senior citizens and those persons with comorbidities who are at most risk for this severe COVID-19,” said Vergeire.

The DOH spokesperson said that the vaccination rate of the country will still depend on the global supply of vaccines.

“We also recognize that our speed in vaccination is greatly dependent on the availability of vaccine supply to the country,” said Vergeire.

“Our vaccine cluster is working hard to secure more vaccine doses given the shortage in global supply. When more vaccines come, we can exponentially increase the phase of our vaccines,” she added.
