Taguig LGU's total administered vaccines reach 479,000 doses

The Taguig City government has already administered 478,997 doses of COVID-19 vaccines since March.

As of July 20, Taguig has vaccinated 303,361 individuals with the first dose, or 44.6 percent of the target population of 680,000.

In addition, 175,636 individuals are now fully vaccinated after getting their second dose, or 25.8 percent of the target population.

Among the estimated 70,000 senior citizens, or A2 priority group, in Taguig, 47,869 have received their first dose, or 68.3 percent, while 33,543 are now fully vaccinated, or 47.9 percent. Taguig targets to finish vaccinating all its eligible population by the end of 2021.

The Taguig City government allocated 800 slots for Thursday for the vaccination of senior citizens using Johnson & Johnson’s single shot Janssen COVID-19 vaccine.

This was announced by TRACE Taguig Wednesday using the tag line “one jab, protektado agad (one jab, immediate protection).”

Local government units (LGUs) in Metro Manila have received allocations of the Janssen vaccine from the national government, which received 3.2 million doses of the brand last July 16 and 17 that were donated by the US government through the COVAX Facility.

The Taguig City government has also resumed the vaccination of people whose second dose jabs with Sinovac Life Sciences’ CoronaVac vaccine were postponed last week.

The Philippines received a new supply of 1.5 million doses of CoronaVac last July 17 that it procured. This is in addition to the earlier one million doses that arrived on July 14.

Taguig suspended the vaccination using CoronaVac last week due to lack of new supply and assured that “Sinovac second doses may still be given beyond the date indicated on your vaccination cards.”

It added that “the Department of Health has determined that the administration of second doses of COVID-19 vaccines is acceptable three to six months after administration of the first dose.”

TRACE Taguig announced Wednesday that those “whose second dose was deferred last July 15 (Thursday), please get your second dose tomorrow, July 22 (Thursday).” Those whose schedule for July 16 was deferred will be vaccinated on July 23.
