'My Roommate Is a Gumiho' actor tests positive for COVID-19

One of the actors in the recently concluded Korean drama “My Roommate Is a Gumiho” has tested positive for the coronavirus disease (COVID-19).

The agency Initial Entertainment made the announcement on July 22 about 25-year-old actor Kim Kang-min, who played the role of Jung Seok in “My Roommate Is a Gumiho,” which starred Jang Ki-yong and Lee Hyeri.

“Actor Kim Kang-min, a member of our company, was diagnosed with COVID-19 on July 21. Kim Kang-min was classified as a close contact and was tested for COVID-19, after which he received a positive confirmation,” it said.

It added that the actor is currently on hiatus from all his schedules and will be focusing on treatment by entering a treatment center according to the guidelines of quarantine authorities.

Kim Kang-min’s next drama is “The Red Sleeve Cuff,” which will star 2PM’s Lee Jun-ho and actress Lee Se-young.

He is the latest Korean celebrity to test positive for COVID-19 as South Korea tries to control its new daily cases.

The Korea Disease Control and Prevention Agency (KDCA) announced on July 22 that 1,533 new COVID-19 cases have been recorded to bring the total confirmed cases to 184,103. As of July 17, a total of 1,741 cases of the highly contagious Delta variant have been recorded in South Korea since December.

Last July 20, Sublime Artist Agency announced that Hani of K-pop girl group EXID and actress Yoon Jung-hee, who will be appearing in the drama “Now, We Are Breaking Up” starring Song Hye-kyo, Jang Ki-yong, have tested positive for COVID-19.

Since June 27, the following Korean celebrities also tested positive for COVID-19: trot singers Kim Hee-jae, Jang Minho and Young Tak, Olympic gold medalists Park Tae-hwan and Mo Tae-bum, BTOB member Lee Min-hyuk, Treasure’s So Jung-hwan and Doyoung, model Han Hye-jin, former volleyball star Kim Yo-han, athletes Yoon Dong-sik and Lee Hyung-taik, singer Seo In-young, child actress Lee Go-eun, actress Cha Ji-yeon, K-pop girl group Lovelyz member Seo Ji soo, K-pop boy band Noir member Kim Min-hyuk, K-pop boy band ATEEZ member San and K-pop boy band Infinite’s Kim Sung-gyu.
