Vaccination in Manila continues despite heavy rains, flooding

The vaccination in the city of Manila will continue despite heavy rains and flooding.

"Rain and flooding will not stop us dahil hindi din nagpapahinga si COVID-19," Manila Mayor Francisco "Isko Moreno" Domagoso said when he was asked if the vaccination will still continue in view of the heavy downpour in most parts of the metropolis.

Several areas in the city were flooded due to heavy rains brought about by the southwest monsoon enhanced by Typhoon “Fabian.”

Some residents lined up even in flood waters at the San Andres gym in Manila to get their first dose of the AstraZeneca COVID-19 vaccine.

Domagoso said these residents were already moved inside the vaccination site.

The city government deployed 2,000 doses for the first dose vaccination of the A1, A2, A3, A4, and A5 Priority Groups at the San Andres gym on Wednesday (July 21).

Domagoso visited the San Andres gym to check on the situation of the residents and the ongoing vaccination.
