UST becomes first PH university with five stars QS rating

The University of Santo Tomas (UST) has become the first Philippine university with five stars Quacquarelli Symonds (QS) rating.

Based in the United Kingdom, QS is the world's leading provider of analytics to the global higher education sector.

UST received five stars for Teaching, Employability, Internalization, and Facilities; four stars for Academic Development; and three stars for Arts and Culture and Inclusiveness.

Meanwhile, for the Specialist Criteria, QS gave a five-star rating to the University's Doctor of Medicine program.

UST first received the four-star rating in 2015, which was renewed in 2018.

"The QS 5 Stars methodology focuses on at least eight out of thirteen criteria against which University performance are rated," UST said.

QS Stars is a rating system that provides a detailed look at an institution, enabling the public to identify which universities are the best in specific topics, such as program strength, facilities, graduate employability, social responsibility, and inclusiveness.

Universities are awarded an overall Star result which ranges from 0 to 5+ Stars, depending on the number of points achieved through the evaluation.
