The launch happened at the FilOil Flying V Centre, San Juan's primary vaccination hub, and was led by Mayor Francis Zamora and other city government officials and employees.

“With the arrival of these single-shot vaccines, we are getting closer to reaching our target of inoculating 70 percent of our population with two doses by end of August. We have also opened our third vaccination site at VMall Greenhills Shopping Center so I am confident that we will hit our goal,” Zamora said.

The city previously opened its third vaccination hub last July 19 located at the third floor Events Place of VMall which can accommodate 1,000 vaccinees a day and will increase the city’s daily vaccination rate to 5,000 jabs, including jabs done at the city’s primary vaccination sites — FilOil Flying V Centre and Theater Mall Cinemas 1 and 2.

According to Zamora, the city received 2,800 doses of J&J vaccines from the 1.6 million doses donated by the US government through the COVAX facility with each vial good for 5 individuals since each jab should contain 0.5ml of the one-shot vaccine for inoculation.

He added that the single-shot J&J vaccine does not require the use of ultra-low freezers and can be kept between 2°C and 8°C for up to six hours or at room temperature, up to 25°C, for two hours.

The LGU said that around 600 individuals from the A2 (senior citizens) and A3 (persons with comorbidities) priority categories will receive the said vaccines.

It added that as of July 20, 108,001 individuals already got their first dose of COVID-19 vaccines or 125.40 percent of its target total population based on the Philippine Statistics Authority's (PSA) 2021 population projection and 116.43 percent based on Asian Development Bank's (ADB) 2021 population projection for San Juan City.

A total of 41,047 San Juaneños have received their second dose or 47.66 percent of the city’s target population based on the PSA's population projection and 44.25 percent based on the ADB projection.

Meanwhile, Zamora assured his constituents that the city has enough contact tracers and that he will continue to boost San Juan's healthcare capabilities in response to the Delta variant threat.

"San Juan City LGU has a total of 95 active contact tracers - 31 from DILG (Department of Interior and Local Government), 64 LGU-hired, and 194 reserved personnel - 140 from the City Health Office and 54 from the barangays, for a total of 289. We have also trained, and tapped during the first two surges, employees of the City Hall, the Philippine National Police and the Bureau of Fire Protection," Zamora said.

"San Juan City has enough contact tracers at the moment but we are ready to hire more should the need arises," he added.
