Roque tells Robredo: Let's see who's president after 2022 polls

Presidential Spokesman Harry Roque asked Vice President Leni Robredo to wait and see who will be elected as the country's next president before vowing fair treatment to any person.

Roque made the statement after Robredo said in an interview with ANC that she will not treat Duterte the same way he treated her if they win as president and vice president, respectively, in the 2022 elections.

In his press briefing on Wednesday, July 21, Roque said it would be better to wait for the elections first.

"Tignan po muna natin kung sino ang mananalong presidente (Let's see first who will win as president)," he said.

Roque likewise wondered what the Vice President was talking about.

"Parang napakaikli naman po ng memorya ng ating Vice President (It seems our Vice President's memory is short-term)," he said.

"Nakalimutan ba ho niya na binigyan siya ng Cabinet post ni Pangulong Duterte pero mas pinili niya maging lider ng oposisyon kaysa magtayo ng pabahay para sa ating mga kababayan (Did she forget that President Duterte gave her a Cabinet post but she chose to be the leader of the opposition instead of building houses for the people)?" he added.

"Tayo po ang umuukit ng ating tadhana (We create our destiny)," he continued.

Robredo has yet to make her decision if she will run for president in the 2022 polls.

The President named Robredo as head of the Housing and Urban Development Coordinating Council (HUDCC) in 2016 but the latter resigned from her post after she was barred from attending Cabinet meetings.

In November 2019, the Vice President was appointed as co-chair of the Inter-Agency Committee on Anti-Illegal Drugs (ICAD), but her stint only lasted for 18 days after the President fired her due to mistrust and alleged incompetence to handle the job.

Despite this, Vice President Robredo has repeatedly expressed her willingness to work with the administration, even her openness to appear with President Duterte in an infomercial to address vaccine hesitancy.
