Pateros' first dose vaccination rises to nearly 78%; mayor urges caution vs Delta variant
The Pateros municipal government has reported that its first dose vaccination has increased to nearly 78 percent.
Based on the July 19 data, a total of 37,996 individuals have received their first dose of the COVID-19 vaccine in Pateros, representing 77.54 percent of the target population of 49,000, or 70 percent of the estimated population of 70,000. The municipal government needs to vaccinate 11,004 people to reach the target.

Pateros is the smallest local government unit (LGU) in the National Capital Region (NCR) in terms of population and land area.
In addition, 19,373 individuals are now fully vaccinated after getting their second dose, or 39.54 percent of the target population.
Pateros is aiming to be one of the first LGUs in Metro Manila to fully vaccinate its target population and achieve herd immunity, or population immunity, which is defined by the World Health Organization (WHO) as “the indirect protection from an infectious disease that happens when a population is immune either through vaccination or immunity developed through previous infection.”
Pateros Mayor Miguel Ponce III has warned the public against the highly contagious Delta variant after the Department of Health (DOH) recorded 16 new cases in the country including three cases in the NCR.
“We are all given the warning to take extra caution. We have not surpassed the pandemic we are facing. At present, we have low positive cases but it does not mean that it will stay at this level,” he said.
He added, “If we become careless, we will return to the past (strict status) especially during the times when we were under ECQ . especially if the Delta variant enters our town. This is what we are guarding against because it is said that the Delta variant can spread easily, and is more contagious compared to the UK or South African variant.”
As of July 15, Pateros only has 21 active coronavirus disease (COVID-19) cases out of 4,733 confirmed cases, which include 4,646 recoveries and 66 deaths.
The DOH reported that as of July 16, it has recorded a total of 35 Delta variant cases. Of the 16 new Delta variant cases announced on July 16, 11 are local cases.
