GOSSIP GIRL: Cristine Reyes gives inspiration to those who are currently sick or suffering

Portugal’s 40th Oporto International Film Festival Best Actress Cristine Reyes recalled: “It was the year 2010  I had a teleserye project with Direk Jeffrey Jetutian entitled 'Reputasyan' in ABS-CBN. At the same time, I was also doing 'No Other Woman' for Star Cinema and Viva Films. I was working every day, averaging around three hours of sleep and so obviously my body overfatigued. Because of a very low immune system, tinamaan ako ng virus called meningitis. Nag-convultion ako sa set ng 'Reputasyon.' They rushed me to the hospital and I stayed in the hospital for almost a month. At first, they couldn’t find out what was wrong with me, so they had to  get fluid from my spine. Then they found out it was meningitis, and they told me it was deadly. Sa hosptal may crucifix doon in front of my bed. I prayed to God and I said,  Lord I cannot die. I want to live. I was fighting for my life, I was super weak, but I fought for my life through prayer. God gave me strength to fight for my life. After a week, my body was getting stronger, and it was slowly fighting the virus until I was well.”

Cristine’s sharing during the press conference of her TV series on TV5 entitled “Encounter” is so timely. When we experience sickness or Illnesses, we sometimes catapult into an abyss of self-pity. But Cristine tells us through her experience that we don't have to fall apart. There's no need to start complaining. You don't have to get all worked up. God will fight your battles. He will restore your body as he does your soul. You just have to reach out to Him as Cristine did.  Instead of wallowing in self-pity and questioning God why this happened to her, she prayed to God and fought for her life. “No, I will not choose to die, I know the Lord will save me because I have a child that I want to take care of. God will save me," Christine tells us. 

TV 5’s "Encounter" also stars one of the most sought-after leading men and heartthrobs, Diego Loyzaga, and directed by Gawad Urian’s Best Director, Direk Jeffrey Jeturian.
