Paranaque City Mayor Edwin Olivarez said that a total of 220,000 residents received their first dose of vaccines which is equivalent to 50 percent of the city government’s target population.
Olivarez said 130,000 residents were already fully vaccinated or about 35 percent. He said this is an indication that the city government is right on target to achieve herd immunity by November this year, provided the supply of vaccines will remain stable.
He said that for the past three days, the city government has conducted about 90 percent of its vaccination using Sinovac and Pfizer vaccines, and can also continue administering the AstraZeneca vaccines.
He also revealed that the City Epidemiology and Surveillance Unit (CESU) has not recorded any new additional cases of COVID-19 for the past two weeks.
Olivarez said the City Health Office (CHO) recorded on July 19 a total of 257 active cases including those with no address and unknown barangay.
He also asked the city’s hospitals to increase their bed capacities and ensure the supply of oxygen and other hospital equipment amid the threat of the Delta variant.
Olivarez said the hospital utilization rate in the city is now at 25 percent.
