PCG rescues 7 passengers from distressed motorbanca in Samar
The Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) rescued seven passengers, including three minors, from a distressed motorbanca off Capul Island, Samar on Thursday, July 1.
In an incident report, the PCG said the rescued passengers departed from Rizal, Sorsogon enroute to Zumarra, Western Samar when their boat's engine suddenly exploded.

While passing off Cataingan, Masbate, the motorbanca’s engine overheated which caused it to explode. It damaged the motorbanca’s flooring and freeboard.
Personnel of the PCG Station Northern Samar, Substation Allen, and Clearing Outpost Capul sighted the distressed motorbanca and swiftly rescued the passengers.

The rescued passengers were transported to Barangay Dagom, Calbayog City, where they were turned over to their relatives.
No passengers were reportedly injured during the incident.
