Metro Manila sees uptick in COVID-19 cases -- OCTA report

The number of coronavirus disease (COVID-19) cases in Metro Manila has increased by 5 percent this week, OCTA Research said in its latest monitoring report on Friday, July 2.
Metro Manila had an average of 686 cases per day on June 25-July 1, which is 5 percent higher than the 654 daily average cases on June 18-24.
Furthermore, OCTA noted that Metro Manila's reproduction number, which is the average number of secondary infections by each infected individual, also went up from 0.72 to 0.82.
It has an average daily attack rate (ADAR) of 4.97 cases per 100,000 population, which means that Metro Manila remains under "moderate-low" risk for COVID-19 infections.
Over the past week, the positivity rate in Metro Manila was 6 percent, while hospital bed occupancy was at 36 percent, ICU or intensive care unit occupancy at 44 percent, and mechanical ventilator occupancy at 30 percent.
Among the local government units (LGUs) in Metro Manila, Navotas, Pateros, and Malabon had the fewest new cases per day, at 10 or fewer.
Navotas also had the lowest incidence at 2.25 cases per 100,000 population.
Malabon, Caloocan, Marikina, Valenzuela, Manila, and Quezon City also had an ADAR below five per 100,000.
