Kaya-Iloilo remained without a point in Group F of the AFC Champions League after being handed a 3-0 defeat by last year’s winner Ulsan Hyundai Friday, July 2 at the Leo Stadium in Pathum Thani, Thailand.

Two goals from Oh Se-hun in the first half and one courtesy of Valeri Qazaishvili allowed the crack South Korean club to set a new Champions League record with its 12th consecutive win dating back to last season’s title run.

Ulsan Hyundai also held the previous mark of 11 during its run to the ACL crown in 2011.

Getting a win remained elusive for Kaya halfway into its group stage campaign with the quality of opponents it has faced since defeating Shanghai Port in the Champions League playoff.

But unlike in its first two matches where it lost a combined scoreline of 9-1 to BG Pathum United and Viettel, Kaya was able to prevent Ulsan from winning the match via a lopsided result.

It took 12 minutes before Se-Hun converted the opener from the center of the box off a pass from Qazaishvili.

Se-Hun made it 2-0 for the Champions League holders with a header off a free kick from Hong Chul in the 40th.

The Georgian-born Qazaishvili extended Ulsan’s lead minutes into the restart with a low right-footed attempt that hit the far corner.

Kaya had two chances to avoid a shutout with Kenshiro Daniels’ shot deflected by Ulsan keeper Jo Hyeonwoo in the 54th.

Daniels made another attempt past the hour mark but his shot was saved by Hyeonwoo.
