ITCZ to bring scattered rain showers, thunderstorms over Caraga, Davao Region

Scattered rain showers and thunderstorms may prevail over Caraga and Davao Region due to the prevalence of the intertropical convergence zone or ITCZ--a rain-inducing weather system containing circulations or low pressure systems.

Weather specialist Shelly Ignacio on Friday, July 2, said possible flash floods or landslides may occur due to moderate to at times heavy rains.

Ignacio added that PAGASA is monitoring the possible formation of a low pressure area (LPA) within Friday that may bring rains over Visayas and Luzon during the weekend.

Meanwhile, a weak southwest monsoon or "habagat" is affecting extreme Northern Luzon but may not have a significant effect on this part of the country.

Metro Manila and the rest of the country will have partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rain showers or thunderstorms due to localized thunderstorms.

The public is advised to stay alert against possible flash floods or landslides during severe thunderstorms.

PAGASA, meanwhile, said that no gale warning is in place as slight to moderate sea conditions may prevail across the country.

While no gale warning is in effect, PAGASA still advised seafarers and fisherfolk to remain alert as sea conditions may become rough during severe offshore thunderstorms.
