Partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rain showers mostly in the afternoon or evening may prevail over Metro Manila and some parts of the country in the next few days, the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) said on Friday afternoon, July 2.

PAGASA advised the public to remain vigilant against possible flash floods or landslides during severe thunderstorms.

Severe thunderstorms are often associated with bursts of heavy rainfall, lightning, thunder, gusty winds, and sometimes hail.

"Mataas ang tsansa ng localized and afternoon thunderstorms sa malaking bahagi ng Luzon kabilang na diyan ang area ng Taal (There is a high chance of localized and afternoon thundertorms in large parts of Luzon including the Taal Volcano area)," PAGASA weather specialist Raymond Ordinario said.

"Pinapaalalahanan namin ang mga naninirahan malapit sa Taal na maging alerto sa posibleng epekto ng mga pag ulan na kasabay ng mga aktibidad ngayon ng Taal Volcano (We remind residents near Taal to be alert for the possible impact of rains simultaneous with the effects of Taal Volcano's activities)," he added.

Meanwhile, Mindanao will have scattered rain showers and thunderstorms due to the intertropical convergence zone or ITCZ--a rain-inducing weather system containing circulations or low pressure systems.

PAGASA said that no gale warning is in place as slight to moderate sea conditions may prevail across the country.

While no gale warning is in effect, PAGASA still advised seafarers and fisherfolk to remain alert as sea conditions may become rough during severe offshore thunderstorms.
