The Philippines listed 6,192 new coronavirus disease (COVID-19) cases on Friday, July 2.

Based on the latest case bulletin, the country's running tally of cases stood at 1,424,518, of which, 55,482 or 3.9 percent were still active.

Of the active cases, 91.5 percent of them were experiencing mild symptoms, 3.8 percent have no symptoms, 1.4 percent were critical, two percent were in severe condition, and 1.44 percent have moderate symptoms.

The death count rose to 24,973 after 177 new fatalities were confirmed.

The recovery count also jumped to 1,344,063 after 2,212 more patients survived from the viral illness.

DOH Undersecretary Maria Rosario Vergeire urged the public to get vaccinated against COVID-19 if they are already eligible.

Vergeire, meanwhile, reminded those fully vaccinated to still follow the minimum public health standards as they can still contract COVID-19.

The Food and Drug Administration (FDA) had reported that few individuals who have been fully vaccinated were infected with the coronavirus.

“Ang pinaka importante at kailangan maipaalam sa ating mga kababayan, lahat ng naging breakthrough infections or impeksyon pagkatapos niyong makuha ang pangalawang dose ng bakuna-- two weeks after, are all mild cases (The most important thing is that all the breakthrough infections---- or infections after you get the second dose of the vaccine --- two weeks after, are all mild cases),” said Vergeire.

“Walang naospital, walang namatay. Ibig sabihin gumagana ang ating mga bakuna. It is being effective and it is protecting our citizens (No one was hospitalized, no one died. That means our vaccines work. They are effective and can give protection to our citizens),” she added.
