CSB's Yadao claims second gold in NCAA

College of St. Benilde bet Krizelle Therese Yadao captured her second gold as she ruled the flyweight division in speed kicking competition of taekwondo in the NCAA Season 96 online meet last Thursday, July 1.

Yadao, who bagged her first gold medal in the virtual poomsae tournament, dominated five other participants as she tallied the best score with 7.175 points for the Lady Blazers.

Yadao bested San Beda University's Maria Laney Kaye Panahon, who settled with the silver medal with 6.667 points, while San Sebastian's Twinkle Angela Bokingkito took the bronze medal with 6.325 points.

A native of Baguio City, Yadao joined Jose Rizal University's bet Emie Soriano Fernandez as double gold medalists in taekwondo as the latter won in the women's poomsae standard and in the speed kicking finweight division.

Arellano University's Paula Julia Alfon missed the podium as she placed fourth by finishing with 6.317 points, followed by Letran's Stephanie Shane Ashley Arana, who had 6.250 points and San Beda's Ria Anne Calasara with 6.150 points.

The women's tournament will be played until Monday televised daily on the GTV channel of new television partner GMA-7.

The Taft-based school topped the speed kicking men’s category with five gold medals courtesy of Josemari Aiko Ong in the heavyweight, Matthew Cloyd Roxas in the middleweight, Mikko Michael Regala in welterweight), Laurence Scott Santiago in featherweight and Ivan Murray Solimen in finweight.

Aside from the five gold medals, CSB also had three silvers and a bronze medal, while the Red Jins placed second in the medal tally with 2-2-5, Arellano University placed third with a 1-2-2, while San Sebastian had a silver medal.
