Breaking barriers: 51 female personnel finish PH Coast Guard training

The Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) has commissioned into service 51 female personnel who successfully finished their non-officers’ course at the PCG National Headquarters in Port Area, Manila on Wednesday, June 30.

Admiral George Ursabia Jr., PCG Commandant, encouraged the newly-commissioned personnel to do their best in fulfilling their duties despite being in a male-dominated field.

“Make the most out of the opportunity to become part of the PCG by serving with humility and compassion, also embody the ideals of genuine PCG – patriotism, compassion, and fear of God,” Ursabia told the female graduates.

Also present during the graduation ceremony were Commodore Eustacio Nimrod Enriquez Jr., commander of the Coast Guard Education, Training and Doctrine Command (CGETDC), and Captain Pamela Dolina, chief-of-staff of the CGETDC.

Last June 25, an all-female class also graduated from the first-ever PCG’s radio operator course in Pasay City.

The 81 female graduates of the radio operators course were employed during the district-level training in Basilan Strait and Sibutu Passage in June 2018.
