Palace: Changes to Duterte's movement due to Delta variant unlikely
Malacañang did not think that there will be big changes made to President Duterte's schedule due to the Delta variant of the coronavirus disease (COVID-19), saying his movements were already limited since the start of the pandemic.

Presidential Spokesman Harry Roque made the statement after the Department of Health (DOH) confirmed last week the local transmission of the more contagious Delta variant.
In his press briefing on Monday, July 19, Roque said Duterte's movement will still depend on the location and the relevance of the event he will be attending.
"Sa mula't mula naman pa limitado na talaga ang mga movement ng ating Presidente (From the very beginning, the President's movement has been very limited)," he said.
"Pero siguro po depende rin 'yan kung saan pupunta po ang ating Presidente at kung ano ang kahalagahan ng affairs na pupuntahan niya (But I think it will depend on where the event will be or the importance of his affairs in that area)," he added.
Meanwhile, Roque said President Duterte's movements have been the same since the pandemic hit the country in March last year.
"Consistent naman po ang pattern of movement ng Presidente. Unless merong extraordinary affair, ay nasa Malago po siya or nandito siya siyudad ng Davao (The President's pattern of movement have been consistent. Unless there's an extraordinary affair, he will be at the Malago or here in Davao City)," he said.
The Malago (Malacañang Golf) Clubhouse is where President Duterte meets with the members of the Inter-agency Task Force (IATF) for the Management of Emerging Infectious Diseases.
So far, the Philippines has reported a total of 35 cases of the Delta variant, including the 16 cases announced on Friday, July 16. Of the 16 cases, five were from returning overseas Filipinos and 11 were detected locally.
The government has closed its borders to travelers from eight countries including Indonesia as the latest to be included in its travel ban list. Malacañang said it was also closely monitoring the situation in Malaysia where a surge of cases has been reported.
