Caloocan City Mayor Oca Malapitan has tapped the city's police district to keep an eye on events that might lead to mass gathering in a bid to prevent the spread of the Delta variant of the COVID-19.
During the flag raising ceremony on Monday, Malapitan warned his constituents against the threat of the new variant after its detection in some patients living in the National Capital Region.
I have given an order to check and investigate mass gatherings, especially if they have permits)," Malapitan said.
Also, look if the place where the gatherings are held is safe. Actually, nowhere is safe now because there's already the threat of COVID-19, so we need to constantly monitor the barangays),” he added.
Malapitan also said he would meet the leaders of the city's 188 barangays to ensure that they implement compliance with the minimum health protocols.
