Jaro archdiocese suspends public masses anew

The Archdiocese of Jaro in Iloilo has again suspended the holding of public masses following the rise in coronavirus cases in the province.

All the parishes under the jurisdiction of the archdiocese will not hold public masses until the Enhanced Community Quarantine (ECQ) status in Iloilo is enforced.

"The Archdiocese of Jaro suspends all public liturgical celebrations in all parishes in the province and city of Iloilo beginning July 17 until further notice due to the elevation of both Iloilo City and Iloilo Province to Enhanced Community Quarantine status. We continue to pray for the protection of everyone from the continuing scare of the COVID-19 transmission in our communities and in the region,” the Archdiocese of Jaro said.

The archdiocese continues to remind the public to take the necessary precautions against COVID-19. The faithful are reminded that while no public masses will be held, the holy masses will be streamed live.

“The archdiocese calls on the faithful to unite in prayer and to recite the Holy Rosary, the Oratio Imperata against COVID-19, and to seek the intercession of San Roque for an end to the pandemic,” the Archdiocese of Jaro said.

The Sacrament of baptism and weddings will continue to be held as well as holy masses for the departed with limited church attendance as a precautionary measure against the spread of the virus.
