Enchong Dee surprised at Bea Alonzo's transfer to GMA Network

Enchong Dee

Kapamilya star Enchong Dee admitted he was a bit surprised when his best friend Bea Alonzo transferred to GMA Network recently.

Enchong made the reaction during an interview at the opening of the Academy of Rock in Quezon City last Sunday night.

"A little bit, I must say," said Enchong, when asked about Bea's transfer.

When asked if he misses her, Enchong answered: "Puwede ko naman puntahan siya kung nami-miss ko siya. (I can visit her if I miss her)"

But the Kapamilya hunk said that Bea never consulted him in her network transfer.

"Never kasi naging aspeto 'yung pagiging magkaibigan namin. That's why bilang kaibigan, you just have to be there to support her. Bawa't isang artista may kanya-kanyang karera. Sa sarili ko pa lang, pagod na pagod na ako so hindi ko na yata maasikaso yung karera nya. (Our career was never an important aspect of our friendship. As a friend, I can always support her. I don't have the time to think about her career).

Enchong reiterated that he will respect the decision of Bea.

"The best thing to do is to support each and every one. Everyone has their own reason. Hindi talaga niya naikuwento (She never mentioned her plan to transfer)," he added.

Enchong said that he and Bea were supposed to meet for dinner, "but she flew to the US."

Bea is currently in the US "to recharge" before she buckles down in GMA.

Enchong and Bea became best friends when they appeared together in the popular ABS-CBN TV series "Magkaribal" in 2010.

ACADEMY OF ROCK OPENS IN QC - Kapamilya stars Enchong Dee (left) and Joshua Garcia (2nd from left) join business partners at the opening of the Academy of Rock on Scout Borromeo in Quezon City.

Echong and fellow actor Joshua Garcia announced the reopening of the Academy of Rock at No. 19 Scout Borromeo St. in Quezon City. The award-winning music academy is registered with the Ministry of Education (Singapore). Its internationally certified teachers conduct music lessons for the Electric Guitar, Drums, Vocals (Singing), Electric Bass Guitar and Keyboards.

"The Academy of Rock is a music school dedicated to teaching rock and popular music. With the aim of living by our fundamental principles of raising musicality, nurturing individuality, inspiring creativity and promoting appreciation through fun, we have a unique teaching setup that goes beyond that of a traditional music school. After all, rock is all about pushing the boundaries of growth, learning and creating new ground, isn’t it?" Enchong said.

Echong added: "We have structured our school, lessons and syllabus to provide a music education (focused on rock and pop) that is holistic and yet tailored to match the aptitude, capabilities and needs of each and every student. Music lessons never have a student-teacher ratio exceeding 2 to 1. Our aim is not for the maximum number of students, nor is it to convert every student into a hardcore, full-time musician. It is to ensure that every student of the Academy of Rock has fun and enjoys learning rock and pop music and to bring out the best in each student, for him or herself."

Joshua also said that the music school aims to encourage steady progress and a continual interest in music for the students. "Each year, we hold a full-scale rock concert to showcase our musical talents. Students who are unable to perform at this concert are able to perform at recitals instead as a gauge and affirmation of their musical progress. Live performances aside, to encourage teamwork and simulate actual band performances and practices, we also have jamming sessions at all our branches as often as possible, providing a good opportunity for teachers and students to share and enjoy rock music."

The Academy of Rock is also an official Rockschool examination centre. It has many experiences and a proven track record in preparing students for the Rockschool UK examinations, which is the international examination board for rock music qualifications, they said. "We provide lessons in the electric guitar, electric bass guitar, pop/rock vocals, drums and pop music theory."
