A group of young cyclists which has been advocating the feeding of street people in Antipolo City since the pandemic hit the country is urging devotees of the Our Lady of Peace and Good Voyage to start donating recyclables.

Fr. Reynante ‘Nante’ Tolentino of the cyclists group “Viajeros” is encouraging the devotees to donate empty plastic bottles and other similar household recyclables as well as food items to help the cyclists’ group in feeding scavengers and other street dwellers.
Fr. Nante, who is also the shrine rector and administrator of the National Shrine of the Our Lady of Peace and Good Voyage, commonly referred to as the Antipolo Cathedral, made his appeal to pilgrims on the Facebook page of the Birhen Ng Antipolo-Our Lady of Peace and Good Voyage.
The group is also encouraging devotees that aside from donating plastic bottles, they may also donate food items such as canned goods and noodles which will be given by the ‘Viajeros‘ to street people every Monday and Friday night.
Since the start of the pandemic, Fr. Nante and his fellow Viajeros have been regularly feeding mendicants every Monday and Friday in a program they call, ‘Tinapay Ng Birhen Sa Patio Ng Katedral ng Antipolo’ (Bread of the Virgin at the patio of the Cathedral) by distributing packs of bread to scavengers, street vendors, and beggars.
The cyclists also roam the streets in the vicinity of the cathedral to look for other street people and give them bread. Fr. Tolentino’s appeal for donations can be viewed here: https://www.facebook.com/
