PH Red Cross vaccinates over 37K individuals vs COVID-19

The Philippine Red Cross (PRC) has so far vaccinated over 37,000 people against coronavirus disease (COVID-19).

PRC biomolecular laboratories chief Dr. Paulyn Ubial said as of July 18, the country’s premier humanitarian organization has vaccinated a total of 37, 300 individuals against the viral disease.

“Nakaka 37,000 na po tayo na jabs, 37, 300 total (We have already administered 37,000 jabs, a total of 37,300 ,” she said in an interview over TeleRadyo on Sunday, July 18.

She noted that the PRC’s “Bakuna” Center in Mandaluyong vaccinated 623 people on July 13. Of the number, 553 got the first and second doses of China’s Sinovac vaccine, and 52 got Moderna jabs. A total of 18 individuals received the first dose of Pfizer-BioNTech vaccines.

PRC Chairman and Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Senator Richard Gordon said they have more than 8,000 available doses of vaccines.

These include 1,200 doses of Pfizer; 2,700, Sputnik V; and 4,700, Moderna.

The PRC had vowed to continue ramping up its vaccination efforts.

Gordon has been convincing the public to get vaccinated against COVID-19.

“The best protection against COVID-19 is to get vaccinated,” he said.

“If you don’t get vaccinated you may infect the people around you whereas if you get vaccinated, you are not only taking good care of yourself but you are protecting your family, friends, and your community as well,” he added.
