Perlas Spikers matches on hold after one delegate tested positive for COVID-19

Organizers of the Premier Volleyball League decided to hold all scheduled games of the Perlas Spikers after a member of their delegation tested positive for COVID-19.

The individual was already moved to an isolation facility for treatment while all team members are in quarantine pending their RT-PCR testing on the fifth day since their last test.

Their next testing will be on Tuesday.

The decision was in accordance with the league protocols to ensure the health and safety of all athletes, coaches and personnel inside the tournament bubble.

While the Perlas case is an isolated one, the organizers and the hosts are leaving no stones unturned to ensure the safe conduct of play in the next five weeks with all nine teams and their respective delegations adhering to the strict health and safety measures of their bubble on and off the court.

The development came after seven players and one coach tested positive for the virus during their training camp late last month.

All members must yield a negative RT-PCR test result to be allowed to play.
