Kontra Daya to Comelec: Call out politicians 'hijacking' gov't activities to promote themselves
Kontra Daya said the Commission on Elections (Comelec) should publicly call out politicians who use government activities to promote themselves ahead of the May 2022 polls.

"Kontra Daya strongly denounces the brazen moves of politicians to hijack official government activities like vaccinations for their own electoral agenda," Kontra Daya Convenor Danilo Arao said in an interview Saturday, July 17.
"In the same way that concerned individuals and groups have done so, Comelec should publicly call out such underhanded ways to promote themselves," he added.
"This is clearly a case of premature campaigning and Comelec should not be too technical and legalistic in refusing to do something about it," said Arao.
Tarpaulins of politicians can be seen in some local vaccination centers.
Arao said the Department of Health (DOH) and the Inter Agency Task Force should also "investigate the politicization of such events and penalize officials who allowed it to happen."
"Subject to what may be allowed by law, we hope that suspensions or dismissals would happen," he said.
