The Philippines Football League is hoping to gain the nod of the Inter-Agency Task Force for its planned Aug. 21 opening of its 2021 season.
PFL officials and representatives of the six participating clubs met virtually last July 13 where several plans were discussed.
During the meeting, the league bared that the National Training Centre in Carmona, Cavite and the Biñan Football Stadium in Laguna are being eyed as possible venues while being open to the possibility of adding new clubs.
The PFL didn’t reveal which clubs are looking to join but former United Football League club Laos and a team from Cebu are among those who are reportedly applying for a club license.
Only five matchdays were held during the shortened PFL season last year with recent AFC Champions League participants United City winning the title and Kaya-Iloilo settling for second despite going unbeaten.
Other clubs that competed in the last PFL campaign were the Azkals Development Team, Stallion-Laguna, Maharlika-Manila and Mendiola FC 1991.
