
Two more Korean celebrities have tested positive for the coronavirus disease (COVID-19) as the entertainment industry in South Korea grapples with the increase in the number of cases.
K-pop boy band BTOB member Lee Min-hyuk has been confirmed to have the virus on July 17 after a third test.
Cube Entertainment, BTOB’s agency, said last July 13, Min-hyuk’s vocal teacher was diagnosed with COVID-19.
In response, Min-hyuk had rapid antigen and polymerase chain reaction (PCR) tests on July 14 and he tested negative in both tests.
But on July 16, he showed symptoms of cough and fever and went to a public health center for a PCR test in which he tested positive for COVID-19.
In addition, Korean trot singer Jang Minho also tested positive for COVID-19 on July 17, according to his agency, New Era Project.
Earlier, it was announced that he tested negative for the virus during the first test but became positive in the second test. Jang Minho will cancel all official schedules and follow guidelines of quarantine authorities.
Jang Minho and other trot singers recorded for the TV Chosun show “Ppong School” with Olympic gold medalist Park Tae-hwan who tested positive for COVID-19 a day before.
On July 16, YG Entertainment said 16-year-old So Jung-hwan,, a member of K-pop boy band Treasure, tested positive for COVID-19, the second in the group to get the virus after Doyoung last July 13.
Other Korean celebrities who have been recently confirmed with COVID-19 are model Han Hye-jin, former volleyball star Kim Yo-han, and athletes Yoon Dong-sik, Mo Tae-bum and Lee Hyung-taik.
Other Korean celebrities who tested positive for COVID-19 were singer Seo In-young, child actress Lee Go-eun, actress Cha Ji-yeon, K-pop girl group Lovelyz member Seo Ji soo, K-pop boy band Noir member Kim Min-hyuk, K-pop boy band ATEEZ memer San and K-pop boy band Infinite’s Kim Sung-gyu.
