Eala, American partner barge into doubles finals of Milan tourney

Alex Eala and American partner Madison Sieg dominated the Russian pair of Kira Pavlova and Diana Shnalder, 6-3, 6-4, to advance to the final of Trofeo Bonfiglio in Milan, Italy on Friday midnight (Philippine time).

The top-seeded duo proved too classy for their rivals, needing just 78 minutes to wrap up the match and set up a title clash with the unseeded pair of Croatia’s Lucija Bagaric and Belgium’s Sofia Costoulas.

Eala was more focused this time, avoiding a double fault for the first time in the event not to mention winning six of 10 break points.

Eala was scheduled to meet Russian Mirra Andreeva in the semis of singles event Saturday (PH time).

The country’s tennis darling is looking to add the Italian title to her impressive resume having won the JA Plantation and JA Cape Town both in 2019.

Eala is out to atone for a disappointing quick exit in the Wimbledon girls tournament where she was beaten in the second round last week.
