Duterte airs misgivings about VP post: What will I do?
President Duterte hinted that one of the things keeping him from deciding on running for vice president in the 2022 elections was the absence of an official function of the position.

Duterte made the statement as he led the national assembly of PDP-Laban at Clark Freeport Zone in Pampanga on Saturday, July 17.
In his speech, Duterte recognized the clamor for him to run for vice president but admitted that he does not know what to do if he won the elections.
He added that there were plenty of things to do, particularly addressing the campaigns against illegal drugs, corruption, criminality, and insurgency that he will be leaving behind in 2022.
"My misgivings about is... I don't know what I can really do, what a vice president can do... can have an impact on the policies of the President because the Constitution is very silent," he said.
"He (vice president) doesn't have a job at all. The job of the vice president is to lie down in his official residence and wait hanggang mamatay siya (for the president to die)," he added.
Early this month, President Duterte said he was now seriously considering running for vice president in the 2022 elections but said the winning president should be his friend or he would be reduced to inutility.
"To the proposition that I run for Vice President, medyo (somehow) I am solved to the idea. Meaning to say I am seriously thinking of running for vice president," he said.
"But let me dwell on the reality of things: If I run for vice president tapos ang presidenteng na-elect hindi ko kaibigan (and the elected president is not my friend), the situation would arise I would remain an inutile thing there," he added.
In June, Duterte admitted that he floated the idea of running for vice president because he did not want to be treated as a lame duck.
Prior to this, he said he made a commitment to House Majority Leader and Leyte 1st District Representative Martin Romualdez that he will support his candidacy for vice president in the 2022 polls.
