The Professional Regulation Commission (PRC) said it is studying the possibility of doing away with licensure examinations.
"We are also studying that, but those examinations are mandated by the law,"PRC chairman Teofilo Pilando Jr. said during the Laging Handa press briefing, Friday, July 16.
"We are also studying that, but those examinations are mandated by the law,"PRC chairman Teofilo Pilando Jr. said during the Laging Handa press briefing, Friday, July 16.
"We defer to the policy-makers and on what they believe should be the fate of our professionals," he added.
Labor Secretary Silvestre Bello III earlier said he has asked the PRC to look into the possibility of recommending the removal of licensure examinations in the country.
Pilando, however, stressed that having licensure examinations is necessary in order to ensure that the country's professionals meet the national and international standards.
"The arguments for conducting examinations is for us to have a national qualification system in deducing professionals since they came from different training centers and have dissimilar credentials," he said.
"Secondly, this is to align the credentials of our professional with international standards," added Pilando.
