Presidential spokesman Harry Roque announced that the Inter-Agency Task Force for the Management of Emerging Infectious Diseases (IATF) has allowed the Philippine Basketball Association (PBA) to open its 46th Season as well as the country's hosting of the 21st Asian Seniors Women’s Volleyball Championship.

"The Inter-Agency Task Force (IATF) on Thursday, July 15, 2021, approved the request of the Philippine Basketball Association to restart their 46th season," he said.

"This, however, is subject to the strict compliance of the health and safety protocols as provided for under the guidelines of the Games and Amusement Board," he said.

The PBA is set to begin its closed-circuit 46th season on July 16 at the Ynares Sports Arena in Pasig City following months of delay due to the pandemic threat.

Roque also said the task force has approved the request of the Philippine National Volleyball Federation to host the 21st Asian Seniors Women’s Volleyball Championship. The tournament must follow health and safety protocols to prevent the spread of the coronavirus, he added.
