Several new roads have been completed in the central part of Iloilo, benefiting far-flung farming communities in the province, the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) said.

The newy-completed road projects cover the towns of Sta. Barbara and Alimodian.
One of these is the newly-improved 821-meter farm-to-market road (FMR) in Barangay Malawog, Sta. Barbara.
According to DPWH Region 6 Director Lea N. Delfinado, the P9.85-million road concreting project "has led to a more efficient transport of agricultural products from farms to market centers while also providing easier access of basic government services since its completion.
Two more road concreting projects along Laylayan-Bagsakan-Punong-Bugang Road in the town of Alimodian were also completed during the first half of 2021.
The concreting works covered a total length of 1.99 kilometers under a P24.61-million budget.
Public Works and Highways Secretary Mark Villar said that the completed road improvement projects will make a vital contribution to the economic development and growth of Iloilo.
“More road projects are in the works to ensure ease of travel and faster delivery of basic services even to far flung and highland communities in Iloilo province,” Villar added.
