DSWD extends financial aid to wounded soldiers in Northern Mindanao

The Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) has extended financial assistance to two soldiers who were wounded during separate encounters with terrorist groups in Northern Mindanao.

The DSWD through its Field Office (FO) in Region X provided the aid under the agency’s Assistance to Individuals in Crisis Situation (AICS).

The AICS recipients are Corporal Riel Galdo of the 4th Infantry Division of the Philippine Army, Camp Evangelista, Patag, Cagayan de Oro City, and Joseph Jimenez, a member of the Citizens Armed Forces Geographical Unit or CAFGU

It was DSWD FO X Regional Director Mari-Flor A. Dollaga who personally handed over the assistance to Galdo and Jimenez.

Galdo was wounded during an encounter with terrorist groups in San Rafael, Talakag, Bukidnon on March 20, while Jimenez, was injured during an encounter with terrorists in Dominorog, Talakag, Bukidnon on June 15.

The DSWD said the provision of AICS aid was extended as provided under its Memorandum Circular No. 11, S. 2019 or Revised Guidelines on the Implementation of AICS.

The MC No. 11 provides that the “uniformed personnel who were killed-in-action or wounded-in-action during military or police operations are qualified to receive cash assistance or other support services.”
