Another Treasure member, Olympic medalist Park Tae-hwan test positive for COVID-19

More Korean celebrities have tested positive for coronavirus disease (COVID-19) as South Korea is trying to control the surge in daily cases.

On July 16, YG Entertainment announced So Jung-hwan, 16, a member of K-pop boy band Treasure, tested positive for COVID-19, the second in the group to get the virus.

“We would like to inform you that Treasure member So Jung-hwan has been diagnosed with COVID-19 today (July 16). Besides So Jung-hwan and Doyoung, who was confirmed to be positive on July 13, the other members of Treasure and staff all tested negative in additional tests conducted so far,” the agency said.

It said that So Jung-hwan tested negative initially, but he constantly checked his health through the simple self-testing kit while in self-quarantine, and it came back positive, which was confirmed through a subsequent PCR (polymerase chain reaction) test.

Last July 13, the agency announced that Treasure member Doyoung, 17, tested positive for COVID-19.

In addition, model Han Hye-jin and former volleyball star Kim Yo-han, who both appear on the new cable TV program “Leader’s Love,” tested positive for COVID-19.

Athletes who appeared on the TV program “We Kick Together” with Kim Yo-han also tested positive. They are Olympic gold medalist Park Tae-hwan, Yoon Dong-sik, Mo Tae-bum and Lee Hyung-taik.

Other Korean celebrities who tested positive for COVID-19 in the past weeks are Korean singer Seo In-young, child actress Lee Go-eun, actress Cha Ji-yeon, K-pop girl group Lovelyz member Seo Ji soo, K-pop boy band Noir member Kim Min-hyuk, K-pop boy band ATEEZ memer San and K-pop boy band Infinite’s Kim Sung-gyu.
