Treasure, aespa voted top K-pop rookies in first half of 2021

Global K-pop fans have voted Treasure and aespa as the best rookie groups in the first half of 2021.

The global K-pop fandom platform “Whosfan” held a global poll from July 6 to 12 on the topic “2021 First Half-Year Voting : Who is the best/female male rookie of 2021?"

The nominees for the two categories were rookie groups that debuted after Jan. 1, 2020 and promoted during the first half of 2021.

In the male rookie idol group category, YG Entertainment’s boy band Treasure took first place with 30.3 percent of the votes followed by P1Harmony with 29.21 percent and Cravity with 14.49 percent.

According to Hanteo Chart, Treasure’s first studio album “The First Step: Treasure Effect” garnered first-week sales of 200,575 and they have received four first-week sales certificates to become the group with the most “Initial Chodong” certificates to date.

Here are the results of the poll in the male rookie idol group category:

1st - Treasure - 30.3 percent

2nd - P1Harmony - 29.21 percent

3rd - Cravity - 14.49 percent

4th - ENHYPEN - 12.1 percent

5th - EPEX - 5.79 percent

6th - Drippin - 3.2 percent

7th - Mirae - 1.8 percent

8th - WEi - 1.58 percent

9th - Ciipher - 0.75 percent

10th - Bae173 - 0.41 percent

11th - Ghost9 - 0.36 percent

In the female rookie idol category, aespa placed first with 35.94 percent followed by weekly with 26.7 percent and Lightsum with 12.12 percent.

Aespa debuted under SM Entertainment in November last year and is composed of Karina, Giselle, Winter and Ningning.

Here are the results of the poll for female rookie idol groups:

1st - aespa - 35.94 percent

2nd - Weeekly - 26.7 percent

3rd - Lightsum - 12.12 percent

4th - StayC - 11.18 percent

5th - Purple Kiss - 9.37 percent

6th - TRI.BE - 3.12 percent

7th - woo!ah! - 0.91 percent

8th - Lunarsolar - 0.66 percent
