Pateros issues tamper-proof vaccination cards

The Pateros municipal government is issuing tamper-proof vaccination certificates, or cards, to people who have already received their second dose.

Mayor Miguel Ponce III held Wednesday a demonstration of the vaccination certificate, which has a QR code that is unique to each vaccinee.

After individuals receive their second dose, he said, they need to send important personal information needed to an email address displayed at the vaccination site. After this, they will receive an email containing their vaccination certificate.

“You just need to print the vaccination certificate and have it laminated. You can use it anywhere,” said Ponce.

He said with the QR code, the vaccination certificate cannot be faked. The QR code will reveal the brand of vaccine used and the dates of the first and second doses.

As of July 14, the Pateros municipal government has vaccinated 36,955 individuals with the first dose, or 75.4 percent of the target population of 49,000, the smallest in the National Capital Region (NCR). The target population is 70 percent of the estimated 70,000 total population of Pateros.

In addition, 15,086 individuals are now fully vaccinated after getting their second dose, or 30.8 percent of the target population.

The first dose vaccination is still suspended in Pateros due to lack of new supply coming from the national government.

Pateros suspended the first dose vaccination starting Monday and it is only administering the second dose.

“What we have is reserved for the second dose: Pfizer and Sinovac. We cannot give these as the first dose because of the time set that we should give the second dose. We cannot delay it. Please wait and maybe this week we will have vaccines for the first dose,” said Ponce.
