Makati prosecutor's office recommends dismissal of slight physical injuries case vs Tony Labrusca

"WHEREFORE, premises considered, it is respectfully recommended that the complaint for slight physical injuries against Anthony Angel Jones Labrusca, Jr., a.k.a. 'Tony Labrusca' be dismissed on the ground of prescription."

This is what was written in the resolution of the Office of the City Prosecutor of Makati City regarding the case filed against the actor, as signed by Senior Assistant City Prosecutor Edmund Seña.

According to the resolution: "This resolves the complaint for slight physical injuries filed by Dennis F. Ibay Jr. against Anthony Angel Jones Labrusca Jr., a.k.a. 'Tony Labrusca.' Record shows that the incident subject matter of the case happened on January 16, 2021. However, the complaint was only filed before this Office on June 04, 2021, or after more than two (2) months from the time of the incident.

"Considering that the complaint for slight physical injuries against respondent was only filed on June 04, 2021, or after more than two months from the date of its alleged commission, the crime is already extinguished by reason of prescription."

Recall the controversy erupted last month.

Several complainants went to court to file two counts of aggravated acts of lasciviousness and aggravated slight physical injuries against Tony after he supposedly molested a woman, going on to allegedly choke a man at a party held last January.

The female complainant, a friend of jeweler and businessman Drake Dustin Ibay who was a witness in the case, alleged Tony exposed her breast and forced her to sit on his lap at the party.

Tony also supposedly choked Ibay’s brother.

In a statement, the legal counsel of the complainants, Atty. Regie Tongol, said, “Mr. Labrusca being a public figure and a foreigner must learn not to be abusive of women. My clients hope that this case would encourage women and anyone who have been victims of abuses by public figures such as Mr. Labrusca whether sexual or otherwise to not be afraid to stand up and be heard.”

Tony is yet to issue a statement on the matter.

His lawyer, Atty. Joji Alonso, urged the public to refrain from casting judgment on the actor.
