The Taguig City government will formally launch on Wednesday its extended vaccination hours of up to midnight at its Bonifacio Global City vaccination site.

Dubbed as “Bakuna Nights,” the vaccination program will open at the Taguig BGC High Street Mega Vaccination until midnight.

Through the extended hours, Taguig aims to vaccinate more citizens and workers who are unable to get vaccinated during office hours.

The city government said it plans to extend the operational hours of the BGC site to 24 hours focusing on people belonging to the A4 priority group, or essential workers. It said its vaccination hubs can administer a total of 8,000 doses of vaccines per day.

As of July 6, Taguig has vaccinated 276,368 individuals with the first dose, or 40.6 percent of the target population of 680,000, and 80,547 individuals with the second dose, or 11.8 percent of the target.

Among the estimated 70,000 individuals belonging to A2, or senior citizens, 46,744 or 67 percent, have been given the first dose and 20,450 or 29.2 percent, are now fully vaccinated.

The Taguig city government temporarily suspended the second dose vaccination using Sinovac Life Sciences’ CoronaVac vaccine due to lack of new supply.

“We assure everyone that Sinovac second doses may still be given beyond the date indicated on your vaccination cards,” it said.

It added that “the Department of Health has determined that the administration of second doses of COVID-19 vaccines is acceptable three to six months after the administration of the first dose."

Despite the setback, Mayor Lino Cayetano said Sunday: “We continue to work on our goal to administer 55,000 this week, to achieve our target to inoculate 70 percent of our eligible population by the end of November. We are on track.”
